Paint changes the colour of a room. Wallpaper changes the character of it. That gap - between a surface treatment and a statement - is what makes wallpaper a different kind of purchase, and a different kind of product to sell.
For print on demand sellers, that difference has a commercial dimension. Wallpaper is priced by the square foot, which means a single order covers more revenue than almost any other wall art product. A standard accent wall is 50–80 square feet. A full room is four times that. The buyer is more considered, the basket is larger, and the margin reflects both.
This guide covers all five Printseekers wallpaper types, how to choose between them, what designs work, how to prepare files, and everything else you need to start selling.

Why Wallpaper Works in a POD Store
Wallpaper pricing is calculated per square foot or per square metre, which means a single order covers significantly more revenue than any individual poster or canvas. A standard accent wall runs 50–80 square feet. At $1.89/ft² for the entry-level product, that’s a $95–$150 order before your margin is added. Larger rooms, full installs, and commercial projects scale from there.
The residential and commercial markets are both viable. Homeowners, interior designers, renters using peel-and-stick for a commitment-free update, Airbnb hosts differentiating their spaces, hotels, schools, offices - wallpaper sells across all of them. The product range covers every level of that market, from easy DIY installs to commercial-grade fire-rated vinyl.
Demand is also category-wide. Botanical prints, geometric patterns, murals, abstract art, architectural prints, maximalist wallpaper, subtle textured neutrals - all of it sells. The design space is wide, and a single design uploaded as a repeating pattern or mural covers both use cases without additional creative work.

Mural vs Pattern Wallpaper: Two Different Products
Before choosing a wallpaper type, understand which format you’re selling. They require different files and appeal to different buyers.
A mural is a single large-scale image split across sequential panels to cover a full wall. There is no repeat - the image unfolds from left to right. Landscape photography, forest scenes, architectural illustrations, and bold abstract work all perform well as murals. The buyer is purchasing a specific image, not a pattern.
Pattern wallpaper uses a repeating design that tiles seamlessly across all panels. The buyer uploads a design fragment and the system repeats it across the full wall. Geometric prints, botanicals, tile-effect designs, and illustrative patterns all work well in this format. Panel widths of 48 cm (19 inches) or 72 cm (28 inches) are recommended.
The commercial logic differs too. Murals are easier to price at a premium because the buyer is purchasing something specific and irreplaceable. Pattern wallpaper has more competition because similar designs are widely available - the design quality and uniqueness of the pattern carries more weight.
The Five Wallpaper Types
Each type is a different product for a different buyer. The choice of material, installation method, and durability all affect who the right customer is and how to position the listing.

Peel and Stick Polyester - $1.89/ft² ($20.30/m²)
View product full product info here.
Self-adhesive polyester textile with a matte, fabric-like finish. Applies without glue or professional help - peel, position, smooth. The buyer who wants a quick update without damaging their walls or committing to a permanent install.
This is the product for renters, first-time decorators, and anyone who treats their interior as something they iterate on rather than set once. The repositionability during initial application is a genuine selling point: it reduces the anxiety of getting it perfectly right first try. That said, it isn’t designed to be removed and reapplied after an extended period - the adhesive weakens over time, and the listing should reflect that.
Weight: 340 g/m². B1/M1 fire resistance rating. Works best on smooth, clean, dry surfaces - not recommended for textured finishes like popcorn or orange peel ceilings.
Prepasted Wallpaper Non-Woven Paper - $1.85/ft² ($19.94/m²)
View full product info here.
Non-woven paper with built-in adhesive. No separate glue required - wet the back, book the wallpaper (fold paste-side in for 1 minute), and apply. Semi-glossy surface, smooth texture, 214 g/m².
The buyer here wants a permanent install without the complexity of sourcing and applying separate paste. It’s a cleaner installation process than traditional wallpaper, and the result is more durable than peel-and-stick. Suited to buyers doing a first proper wallpaper install who want the process simplified without sacrificing permanence.
B1 fire resistance. Apply to smooth, dry walls - freshly painted walls need 2–7 days to cure before installation.

Peel and Stick Vinyl - $2.43/ft² ($26.20/m²)
View full product here.
Self-adhesive vinyl with a canvas-like matte texture. The most durable of the peel-and-stick options - scratch-resistant, splash-resistant, and better suited to areas with moderate moisture exposure. Weight: 370 g/m². B1 fire resistance.
If a customer asks whether any wallpaper can go in a kitchen or bathroom, this is the one to recommend. Not ideal for prolonged exposure to steam or standing water, but handles everyday splashes and humidity better than polyester or paper options. It’s also the right choice for high-traffic areas where durability matters: hallways, children’s rooms, rental properties that see regular turnover.
The higher price per square foot reflects the material quality. Buyers choosing vinyl over polyester generally understand the trade-off and are willing to pay for it.

Traditional Wallpaper Non-Woven Paper - $1.56/ft² ($16.76/m²)
View full product here.
The most affordable option in the range. Lightweight non-woven paper (175 g/m²), semi-glossy surface, smooth texture. Applied with wallpaper paste - glue is sourced separately, applied to the wall or paper, and the wallpaper is positioned and smoothed.
This is the classic install. It requires a little more effort than prepasted or peel-and-stick, but for buyers who have wallpapered before, the process is familiar and the result is a clean, lasting finish. It’s also the right product for interior designers and contractors who have their preferred paste and their own installation workflow.
The price point makes it the most competitive option for residential projects where budget is the primary constraint. Every Printseekers wallpaper order includes installation instructions and a squeegee. White-labelled, so your brand remains visible throughout the customer experience.
Type II Commercial Vinyl - $3.25/ft² ($34.93/m²)
View full product here.
A different product category. Type II commercial vinyl is not for bedrooms - it is for hotels, schools, offices, healthcare facilities, and any high-traffic space where the walls take a beating and the fire rating has to meet regulatory standards. Weight: 450 g/m². Woven vinyl textile with a smooth, durable finish. Advanced water and scratch resistance. Type II Class A fire rating.
This is the most premium product in the range and the one with the least competition in the POD market. Most wallpaper sellers don’t offer commercial-grade vinyl at all. For sellers targeting interior designers, hospitality clients, or commercial fit-out companies, it is a genuine differentiator.
Listings for this product should lead with the fire rating and durability specs. The buyer making a commercial decision needs to confirm those details before anything else. The design is secondary to the technical compliance.
What Designs Sell in Wallpaper
Wallpaper design follows different rules than poster design. The scale changes everything. A design that looks bold and graphic at 18×24 inches can become overwhelming tiled across 80 square feet of wall. A pattern that looks subtle as a single tile can read beautifully at room scale. The only way to know is to check the design in context.
Botanical and nature prints are consistently the strongest category. Large-scale tropical leaves, floral patterns, forest murals - these outsell almost everything else across residential markets. They work in bedrooms, living rooms, and dining spaces, and they photograph well in listing images.
Geometric patterns have a reliable commercial market in both residential and commercial spaces. Clean lines, repeating tile effects, and abstract geometric forms work particularly well for the Type II commercial buyer who needs something professional and neutral.
Murals - particularly landscape photography, architectural illustration, and abstract colour field work - are the highest-value single orders. A buyer purchasing a custom mural for a feature wall is purchasing something specific to their space. That specificity justifies premium pricing and reduces price comparison shopping.
Maximalist and pattern-heavy designs have grown significantly as a category, particularly for accent walls in rental properties and Airbnb spaces. Buyers in this segment are looking for something that reads well in photos - the listing image showing the design installed in a styled space converts better than a flat mockup.

Preparing Your Design Files
Requirements
- Format: JPEG, JPG, PNG, or TIFF
- Resolution: 300 DPI
- Colour profile: sRGB - ensures accurate colour reproduction in print
- File size: maximum 2 GB
- Dimensions: Files must match the exact panel or wall dimensions ordered
Panels
All Printseekers wallpaper is 28 inches (71 cm) wide. Recommended panel widths for ordering are 48 cm (19 inches) or 72 cm (28 inches). Files should be sized to the exact dimensions of the panel ordered.
For murals, upload the full design file with the total wall dimensions. For pattern wallpaper, upload a single design fragment and specify the wall size - the system tiles it automatically.
No Overlapping Sides
Printseekers wallpaper panels are designed without overlap. Each panel aligns precisely with the next for a seamless result. File dimensions should match the panel size exactly - no bleed is required.
Colour Accuracy
Design in sRGB from the start. For designs where colour precision matters - brand colours, carefully calibrated naturalistic tones, subtle gradients - order a sample before listing. Samples can be ordered in envelope size up to 24×34 cm (9.45×13.38 inches), which is large enough to evaluate the material and print quality before committing to a full listing.
Packaging and Shipping
All wallpaper orders are wrapped in crepe paper, rolled into a protective tube, and packed in a cardboard box. Tubes are available in a range of colours. Packaging is white-labelled - shipping labels, tubes, and installation instructions carry your branding, not Printseekers’. Every order includes a squeegee and detailed installation instructions.
Pack-ins are available on request - stickers and other inserts can be included to reinforce your brand at the moment the customer opens the package. Contact Printseekers to discuss options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wallpaper type should I start with?
Peel and Stick Polyester for a general residential audience. It has the lowest installation barrier, appeals to renters and casual decorators, and covers the widest range of buyers. Add Traditional Non-Woven for buyers who want a permanent install, and Type II Commercial for a separate listing targeting professional or hospitality buyers.
Can wallpaper go in a bathroom or kitchen?
Not generally recommended. Prolonged humidity causes adhesion issues over time. The exception is Peel and Stick Vinyl, which offers better moisture resistance than other types and handles everyday splashes reasonably well. It is still not suited to areas with direct water contact or steam exposure.
Can peel-and-stick wallpaper be repositioned?
Yes, during initial application. The adhesive is designed to allow adjustment while you’re installing. It is not designed to be removed and reapplied after an extended period - the adhesive weakens once it has been on the wall for a while. Make this clear in your listing to manage expectations.
What surfaces can wallpaper be applied to?
Smooth, clean, dry surfaces. Painted walls, plaster, treated wood, and concrete are all suitable. Avoid textured surfaces - popcorn, orange peel, knockdown finishes - and unpainted or glossy surfaces. Freshly painted walls need 2–7 days to cure before installation.
Is the wallpaper fire-rated?
Yes. All Printseekers wallpaper carries a B1/M1 fire resistance rating. Type II Commercial Vinyl additionally holds a Type II Class A fire rating, which meets safety requirements for public and commercial spaces including schools and hotels.
What is the difference between a mural and pattern wallpaper?
A mural is a single large image split across panels - no repeat. Pattern wallpaper uses a repeating design tiled across the full wall. They require different files and suit different buyers. Murals are for buyers purchasing a specific image; pattern wallpaper is for buyers choosing a surface treatment.
Is there a minimum order?
No. Each order is produced individually on demand. You can fulfill a single panel order with no volume commitment.
Are the inks sustainable?
Yes. All Printseekers wallpaper is printed using sustainable eco-solvent inks on the Epson SureColor SC-S80610. Materials are PVC-free.
Does the order come with installation instructions?
Yes. Every order includes detailed installation instructions and a squeegee, white-labelled with your branding.
The Wall Is the Product
Most POD sellers stop at posters and canvas. Wallpaper requires a little more understanding of the product - the install methods, the material differences, the file preparation - but that complexity is exactly why the competition is lower and the margins are stronger.
The buyer who purchases wallpaper is not browsing casually. They have a specific wall in mind, a specific look they’re after, and they’ve made a decision to commit to it. That buyer is worth more than the impulse purchase, and the product range - from $1.56/ft² traditional non-woven to $3.25/ft² commercial vinyl - covers every version of that buyer from first-time renter to commercial interior designer.
Printseekers offers wallpaper samples for testing before you list. Order before you sell - the difference between a matte polyester surface and a woven commercial vinyl is something you need to see in person before you describe it to a customer.
